We booked a powered site at Yanakie Caravan Park for the 15th of January 2016 back in December for 6 nights and had a fantastic response from Craig the park manager, who took our booking. A powered site in peak times here is $45.00 per night, which is exceptionally good value. We confirmed our booking via telephone with Katie, who was very friendly in her approach and confirmed this for us. We were very impressed with the customer service even before coming to the park.  Our review of Yanakie Caravan Park Victoria

We arrived on Friday afternoon at around 3.00pm, and were greeted by Katie, who was very happy and bubbly. She looked out the window and mentioned that she had some concerns about the size of our vehicle, I assured her that while it looked large, it was actually not much longer than a standard Ute, it was just high. She came out to have a look and agreed that it looks bigger on first impressions, rather than in reality. We had a friendly chat and she directed us to our site. We felt very welcomed by Katie, and she really is an asset to Yanakie Caravan Park.

We were in site number 7, and found the powered sites to be large, and they have partitioned areas with lattice and little gardens. This was such a nice touch, as you feel like you have a designated living space for your stay. We found this to be a lovely feature of the park. We had an amazing view of the water, which was very relaxing. The amenities were a few blocks away, which could be inconvenient for families with no camp toilets, especially with children, as using amenities can be a frequent necessity. The amenities themselves were older style, but cleaned regularly, which was fine for our needs. There was a mop for mopping out the showers after use, however, many guests failed to use this, which did mean that the showers were often left in a less than ideal condition, however, this is no reflection on management, rather inconsiderate people. Personally, I just gave the showers a quick mop out before and after use, and they were perfectly adequate.

Campsite at Caravan Park

A central feature to our stay was the fact that there was a brand new playground installed. Our kids just loved the playground, it was cleverly laid out and in an excellent, safe location in the centre of the caravan park. There was an undercover BBQ area nearby where you could sit and watch the kids while you cook a feed and relax. Another wonderful aspect was the beautiful beach, we could step down straight onto the sand onto a lovely beach that was often packed with birdlife. The tide would go very far out, and you can walk out pretty far, exploring the crabs, jelly fish and other interesting wildlife. The kids loved exploring the area, and it was absolutely beautiful. There were gorgeous views of Wilson’s Promontory, which added to the natural beauty of this location. Yanakie is at the beginning of Wilson’s Prom, so it makes a great place to stay so you can access the prom easily without the crowds.

Overall we loved our stay here at Yanakie, and would recommend it as a place to stay for families, couples and groups. We had fun, and felt very welcome here. Yanakie Caravan Park is pet friendly at sites, and for us, this will be a firm favourite, especially in summer as it is not too crowded and the cost is very reasonable.
